An Extra Long Vacation!

Well, the "View Crew" and I just got back this Heavenly morning...the gang wanted to stay a little longer on your Earth in order to "chat" with this year's Earthly Kentucky Derby contenders, and they even got a chance to do a little "question and answer" period with them too!!  Right now though I'm heading off to help Ruffian unpack her 50,000 pieces of Heavenly luggage and will be back later to report on the "View Crew's" Wal-Mart excursion, their "trial Kentucky Derby race" at Churchill Downs (talk about cutting across the infield in order to gain positions!), and why Slew found it necessary to stop in at Carlo's Bakery (Cake Boss) in Hoboken, New Jersey!  Check this out:  http://www.carlosbakery.com/

(Btw: Ruffian celebrated her Heavenly birthday down on your Earth too...more on that later!)

Stay tuned....you're NOT gonna want to miss out on all their shenanigans....!!!

  1. Good mornin', y'all!!!

So glad to know all went well down here on earth for the View Crew and how cool that they got to spend extra time at a place that means so much to the equines! Everybody needs an extra long vacation:)

Carlos makes fantastic looking cakes!! Wish we had a place in the south wing that did them up the way he does:)

A farm near my house has a baby foal on it, EH!! You sure are one lucky angel that the Big Big Boss Above picked YOU to look after all those that have passed on. They are always healthy and happy up at the Farm with you:)

  2. Yippeeee-Skipppyyyy!!! They're BAAACCCCKKKK!! And as per USUAL, it seems they had FUNNNNN!! Wheee! It will be great/grand/wonderful to 'READ ALL ABOUT IT.' When things are unpacked and put away and life at the Farm resumes some 'normalcy'.....LOL! I hardly think life at HGF can EVER be called 'normal'!!! :)

We've got MOAR rain this morning:( I mean, Geeze, Louise...by Sunday though, temps in high 70's are forecast...LOTS of sunshine supposed to be gracing us by Friday, I think:) Next week, Tues/Wed...MOAR RAIN! Long Spring this time around...i.e, Spring storms, the sunshine part, not so much!

I hope everyone has a good day today...Happy *EARTH DAY* to our Planet...each of us are so grateful for you, Dear Planet Earth...We SRSLY need to take better care of you...I'm trying.

  3. Good Earthly Thursday morning Famblee!! Phew! I just got done helping Miss Ruffian unpack...what a task THAT was!!! The report will be later this evening....and you won't believe what these guys and gals got into! Btw: The "View Crew" is heading back down to your Earthly Kentucky on May 1st for the Derby....There has been talk that since they have missed the last three Earthly Derby's due to the Triple Halo, they would like to forego this year's Triple Halo and "schmooze" with all the high society at your Earthly Churchill Downs!! YIKES!! Hopefully they'll be NO SWINGING from the Earthly Twin Spires!!!

  4. Good Friday *MEAD* Day Everyone! Happy *MEAD & GREET AT *QUID'S* LAST DITCH Day:)

I got so involved in 'complaining' about the weather here y'day...I FORGOT about the visit to Carlo's Bakery!! I betcha *SLEW* was in a 'different' kind of HORSEY HEAVEN there!! Can you even IMAGINE the cakes he's gonna be designing and putting together NOW??? Wheeeee:)

I don't so much keep up now with which horses are running in the Derby since our Boy got to HGF...but I have read here/there, seems like maybe there isn't one this time around who seems to be 'lighting the world on fire' so to speak...Maybe if *BARBARO* and *SLEW* could hook up with one in particular, give them some pointers...the possibilities could be 'boundless':)

I googled 'winners of kd' and read times, seems that Secretariat holds the fastest winning time, with 1.592/5. Big Red is the ONLY horse in that long, long list of so IMPRESSIVE names to come to the finish line in under 2 minutes!! Wow!

I also noted that for ?? reason, the times got much faster between 1895 with Halma and 1896 with Ben Bush. Seems like after 1896, the times averaged around 30 seconds faster. Anyone here know why? Maybe they groomed the track differently or changed the surface somehow? Interesting!

    Everyone, have a great Friday:)
xolynne P.S. :/ we STILL have clouds this morning:(

  5. Good nearly afternoon, y'all! Sunshine today but bad storms coming from Texas way due Saturday late... Tonka will be fine at the Farm, thank the Big Big Boss Above:)

Yup, I'm imagining Slew will be wrapped up all in that fondant!! Wonder what color he'll be after seeing all of those at the bakery?!! Me, I'd choose turquoise:)

I've not read/watched anything on racing either, Lynne. I just pray that all the horses come safely across that finish line!

Does anyone know if they've given a name to Barbaro's littlest brother yet? I was thinking that I read on ABR when I popped on there that it may have been a joke...?

Have a great Mead Day Friday!!

  7. IKNOWIKNOWIKNOW!!! :) I googled "History of the Kentucky Derby" and they shortened the TRACK in 1896...No WONDER the horses all came in 30 seconds sooner after that!! Here I was thinking somehow they resurfaced the track differently or even maybe lighted the Jockey's weights somehow..and all the time, they'd made the TRACK SHORTER!! LOL!! I was trying to be so SCIENTIFIC..LOL!!Well..now I know, anyway! :)

  8. Good mornin', y'all from a rainy south wing!! Bad storms are heading our way:(

Margano....I love it!! Makes me wonder what that sweet filly would have been named, though.

LOL, Lynne on it being such an easy answer:) Isn't it great though, that you knew all the things it could have been? We've all come a long way on our knowledge of horses, thanks to our sweet boy, Barbaro!!!

    Have a great Saturday:)

  9. Monday 'still morning in da westwing' Family:)

Linda..Hope you and yours all survived the SRSLY dreadful weather of Saturday/Sunday! I feel so awful for everyone in MS and other areas! OMG! I will just take my chances with the earthquakes here in CA!

FYI to all readers here....Tomorrow, 4/27 is Sherry Van Wagoner's Birthday. She's celebrating her first B'Day in Heaven tomorrow:)

Daryl is taking her Boyz, Warpaint, Dakota and Gunner on a nice walk tomorrow and will have with him a small bit of Sherry's ashes which her sister gave to him and three Lael colored balloons and one light pink rose. They'll find a special place on the Ranch in Minnesota which so many FOBs helped pay to get them to and scatter her ashes and release the balloons to Heaven.

I believe Sherry will be watching and smiling, along with her little neice Melody, her Beloved *CHICO* and Daryl's dad, Ed who shares the same birthdate with our Sherry:)

There is a candle group for her and if anyone might wish to stop in, here's the link:

    http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=sherr

Sherry was a good Sister in Barbaro to us all and a true HORSE WARRIOR for all the horses, too!

I hope everyone is having a 'dine&fandy' Monday!

BTW: A collection is being gathered at Kennet Florist (610)444-6040 for Libby's Kids at New Bolton...she's the 'Mommy' to the Donor Animals and the gift basket will be delivered on Thursday, *BARBARO'S* Birthday! Wheeeeee:) Be sure and tell them it's for *LIBBY'S KIDS* if you call.
